01 / Overview

Artificial limbs are the main means of restoring limb function in amputees. Intelligent bionic prostheses use electrical signals (electromyographic signals, EMG) from the patient's muscle surface to control the movement of the prosthesis. This method uses electromyographic signals to decode and recognize human motion intentions. Its core is a complete set of algorithms and signal processing techniques that convert electromyographic signals into prosthetic motion signals.

02 / How visitors use it

The unit is designed for unsupervised public use: controls are recessed or shielded, moving parts are enclosed, and the interface is operable by a child of about six with no instruction. Where a screen is used, the language can be switched without changing the hardware, and the content can be replaced on site.

03 / The science behind it

All functions of the human body are controlled by the nervous system. When a limb is severed, tissues such as nerves, muscles, and bones are interrupted, but the parts above the stump remain intact. When we want to drive a missing limb to perform a certain action based on habits and consciousness, the nerves and muscle tissues above the stump will still transmit and generate different electrical signals as before. Neurocontrolled prostheses rely on the collection and analysis of these electrical signals to identify instructions from the central nervous system, and then divide these instructions into different electromechanical signals, which are driven by various electric motors to complete different finger movements, thereby achieving specific limb functions.

04 / Built for a public floor

Every unit leaves the factory after a running test: mechanisms cycled, electronics burned in, edges dressed, fixings torqued and marked. Wear parts — bearings, sliders, lamps, belts, touch panels — are modular and listed on the spare-part sheet, so a venue technician can replace them without returning the exhibit. Crating is plywood with foam blocking; the loading plan and packing list travel with the shipment.
