01 / Overview

The development of science and technology often has a dual nature, and genetic engineering is no exception. If genetic engineering is developed without restrictions, will humans be transformed beyond recognition? Defining the boundary between technology and ethics and avoiding uncontrollable outcomes requires careful consideration and treatment at all times.

02 / How visitors use it

The unit is designed for unsupervised public use: controls are recessed or shielded, moving parts are enclosed, and the interface is operable by a child of about six with no instruction. Where a screen is used, the language can be switched without changing the hardware, and the content can be replaced on site.

03 / The science behind it

Genetic science is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it has provided tremendous assistance in treating genetic diseases, improving agricultural varieties, and promoting medical research. For example, gene editing technology has made breakthrough progress in treating genetic diseases such as thalassemia and Huntington's disease. On the other hand, genetic science has also raised many ethical issues, such as genetic privacy breaches, genetic discrimination, and behaviors that violate the laws of natural reproduction, such as "customized babies". In addition, the immaturity and potential environmental risks of genetic technology are also worrying. Therefore, the development of genetic science must be carried out within strict ethical norms and legal frameworks to ensure that it benefits humanity without compromising social equity and human dignity.

04 / Built for a public floor

Every unit leaves the factory after a running test: mechanisms cycled, electronics burned in, edges dressed, fixings torqued and marked. Wear parts — bearings, sliders, lamps, belts, touch panels — are modular and listed on the spare-part sheet, so a venue technician can replace them without returning the exhibit. Crating is plywood with foam blocking; the loading plan and packing list travel with the shipment.
