A standard catalogue model: the dimensions, control package and finish are fixed, which is what keeps the price and the lead time predictable. Size, colour and interface language can be adapted without a new design cycle.

01 / Overview

With climate change, species are facing more extreme living conditions. As most places become increasingly hot, many species are migrating to higher altitudes, and the intricate dependencies between species are being disrupted.

02 / How visitors use it

The unit is designed for unsupervised public use: controls are recessed or shielded, moving parts are enclosed, and the interface is operable by a child of about six with no instruction. Where a screen is used, the language can be switched without changing the hardware, and the content can be replaced on site.

03 / The science behind it

With climate change, species are facing more extreme, chaotic, and various hotter, drier, or wetter conditions. As most places become increasingly hot, many species are migrating to higher altitudes, and the intricate dependencies between species are being disrupted. The rich living environment of coral reefs is undergoing bleaching, and large-scale coral death is occurring due to the sea becoming too hot. When more carbon dioxide is absorbed by seawater, acidic water dissolves the shells and exoskeletons of marine organisms, as well as coral structures, all of which are disrupting the marine food chain. Human activities can also have some positive impacts on the survival of Earth's organisms and the environment in certain aspects, although these impacts are usually limited. Human activities have prompted the establishment of nature reserves and efforts to protect wildlife. Planting trees and forest restoration: Trees absorb carbon dioxide, which helps reduce greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere, improve air quality, and protect soil.

04 / Built for a public floor

Every unit leaves the factory after a running test: mechanisms cycled, electronics burned in, edges dressed, fixings torqued and marked. Wear parts — bearings, sliders, lamps, belts, touch panels — are modular and listed on the spare-part sheet, so a venue technician can replace them without returning the exhibit. Crating is plywood with foam blocking; the loading plan and packing list travel with the shipment.
