01 / Overview

The exhibit introduces the changes and distribution of land and sea areas in different geological periods, as well as the evolution of representative marine organisms during corresponding periods, through multimedia interactive devices combined with ball screens and dynamic light boxes. Around the ball screen, we have innovatively added a circular sliding bar interactive platform, which links the ball screen with the tabletop light box and the earth plate with the corresponding time in a 360 ° all-round manner. The dynamic light ring above serves as a visual aid, providing visitors with a dynamic visual experience to better observe the changes of the ocean and the formation of the South China Sea from different time dimensions. The distribution of land and sea on Earth has undergone a long evolution and is still constantly changing, and marine organisms have also undergone a long evolution. The exhibit six geological periods: the Cryogenian, Cambrian, Devonian, Carboniferous, Jurassic, Cretaceous to the present world, guiding visitors to explore and observe the evolution process of different periods through time series.

02 / How visitors use it

The unit is designed for unsupervised public use: controls are recessed or shielded, moving parts are enclosed, and the interface is operable by a child of about six with no instruction. Where a screen is used, the language can be switched without changing the hardware, and the content can be replaced on site.

03 / Built for a public floor

Every unit leaves the factory after a running test: mechanisms cycled, electronics burned in, edges dressed, fixings torqued and marked. Wear parts — bearings, sliders, lamps, belts, touch panels — are modular and listed on the spare-part sheet, so a venue technician can replace them without returning the exhibit. Crating is plywood with foam blocking; the loading plan and packing list travel with the shipment.
