01 / Overview

Exhibits introduce unique aerial root forms: Due to underwater hypoxia and tidal erosion, mangroves develop various forms of aerial roots and support roots, such as plate-like roots, finger shaped roots, knee shaped roots, snake shaped creeping roots, etc. Characteristics of leaves and salt secretion phenomenon: In order to adapt to high temperature, strong light, and high salt environments, leaves have evolved drought tolerant structures that inhibit water transpiration. Excess salt can also be secreted and excreted through salt glands, or transferred to old leaves for shedding. Characteristics of the stem: The well-developed periderm forms a strong barrier and provides wind and wave resistance support, while the well-developed aeration tissue inside the stem forms an oxygen transport channel, ensuring respiration at the flooded roots. Fruit characteristics and viviparous phenomenon: Red mangrove fruits exhibit "viviparous" characteristics, with seeds germinating into rod-shaped hypocotyls before leaving the mother's body. After falling off, it can be quickly inserted into the mudflat to take root and plant, or drifted thousands of miles with the ocean current to choose a place to grow.

02 / How visitors use it

The unit is designed for unsupervised public use: controls are recessed or shielded, moving parts are enclosed, and the interface is operable by a child of about six with no instruction. Where a screen is used, the language can be switched without changing the hardware, and the content can be replaced on site.

03 / Built for a public floor

Every unit leaves the factory after a running test: mechanisms cycled, electronics burned in, edges dressed, fixings torqued and marked. Wear parts — bearings, sliders, lamps, belts, touch panels — are modular and listed on the spare-part sheet, so a venue technician can replace them without returning the exhibit. Crating is plywood with foam blocking; the loading plan and packing list travel with the shipment.
