Guarding the Green Coastline

The change of coastline is a complex process that is influenced by a combination of natural and human factors. These factors interact with each other and jointly drive the continuous changes of the coastline. Protecting the coastline is of great significance for maintaining ecological balance, promoting economic development, safeguarding social welfare, and inheriting cultural heritage. Therefore, we should take effective measures to strengthen the protection and management of the coastline. Guarding the Green Coastline "aims to protect and restore the natural environment of coastal areas. Here are some suggestions that can help us safeguard green coastlines: reduce plastic pollution, participate in beach cleaning activities, support sustainable fisheries, protect marine biodiversity, reduce carbon emissions, educate the public, support environmental policies, promote green travel, participate in afforestation, and support sustainable development projects.

The State Oceanic Administration has clearly stated that it will establish a natural shoreline retention rate control system, and by 2020, the national natural shoreline retention rate will not be less than 35%. ③ Overall Plan for Major Projects of National Important Ecosystem Protection and Restoration (2021-2035): In 2020, it was proposed to carry out major projects for coastal ecological protection and restoration, and to promote the renovation of "blue bays".
