01 / Overview

The atmosphere is the outermost layer of gas on Earth, surrounding oceans and land, with a thickness of approximately 1000 kilometers or more, but without clear boundaries. The atmosphere is mainly composed of nitrogen, oxygen, and small amounts of other gases (such as carbon dioxide, argon, water vapor, etc.), which play a crucial role in the survival of life on Earth and the formation of the Earth's climate. The atmosphere can be further divided into several sub layers according to different classification rules, such as the troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere, and exosphere, based on temperature structure. Each sub layer has its specific temperature and pressure distribution characteristics, as well as specific climate and weather phenomena.

02 / How visitors use it

The unit is designed for unsupervised public use: controls are recessed or shielded, moving parts are enclosed, and the interface is operable by a child of about six with no instruction. Where a screen is used, the language can be switched without changing the hardware, and the content can be replaced on site.

03 / The science behind it

The vertical structure of the atmosphere can be roughly divided into the troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere, and exosphere. The troposphere is the lowest layer of the Earth's atmosphere, with a thickness of only about 12 kilometers, but it contains 80% of the total mass of the Earth's atmosphere. The atmosphere here has the highest density, and humans live in the troposphere, where the vast majority of weather phenomena occur. The atmospheric density in the stratosphere is much thinner than that in the troposphere, and it contains the ozone layer, which is crucial for life on Earth. The temperature is about -55 ° C. The stratosphere is almost completely devoid of clouds and other forms of weather. 3. The middle layer is the coldest place on Earth, with an average temperature of about -85 ° C. 4. The thermosphere extends from 80 kilometers to an altitude of 700 kilometers, and the Karman line is located in the thermosphere, which is also the narrow boundary between the atmosphere and space. The temperature of the hot layer gradually increases with height, reaching up to 1500 ° C. This layer is completely devoid of.

04 / Built for a public floor

Every unit leaves the factory after a running test: mechanisms cycled, electronics burned in, edges dressed, fixings torqued and marked. Wear parts — bearings, sliders, lamps, belts, touch panels — are modular and listed on the spare-part sheet, so a venue technician can replace them without returning the exhibit. Crating is plywood with foam blocking; the loading plan and packing list travel with the shipment.
