A standard catalogue model: the dimensions, control package and finish are fixed, which is what keeps the price and the lead time predictable. Size, colour and interface language can be adapted without a new design cycle.

The exhibit introduces the use of projection lights combined with whale specimens to create a real underwater environment and the process of whale fall. Through a multimedia screen as a single carrier, it presents the four stages of a whale and sets interactive explanations for each stage, interpreting the concept of "one whale falls, all things live" in different time dimensions. Touch the four sections of the screen to view different phenomena occurring in the four stages of the whale ecosystem. Whale landing, which refers to the process of a whale sinking to the bottom of the sea after death, not only marks the end of life, but also a grand prelude to the life cycle in deep-sea ecosystems, constructing a complex and delicate food chain and providing valuable nutritional sources for deep-sea organisms. Through experience and interaction, visitors can understand the four important stages of the formation process of the whale ecosystem: "mobile scavengers, opportunists, chemoautotrophic, and reef rocks", and feel the magnificent poem of endless life and cycle.
The unit is designed for unsupervised public use: controls are recessed or shielded, moving parts are enclosed, and the interface is operable by a child of about six with no instruction. Where a screen is used, the language can be switched without changing the hardware, and the content can be replaced on site.
Every unit leaves the factory after a running test: mechanisms cycled, electronics burned in, edges dressed, fixings torqued and marked. Wear parts — bearings, sliders, lamps, belts, touch panels — are modular and listed on the spare-part sheet, so a venue technician can replace them without returning the exhibit. Crating is plywood with foam blocking; the loading plan and packing list travel with the shipment.
