01 / Overview

Welding, also known as fusion, is a manufacturing process and technology that involves joining metals or other thermoplastic materials through heating, high temperature, or high pressure. According to the state of the metal and the characteristics of the welding process, welding methods can be divided into three categories: fusion welding, pressure welding, and brazing.

02 / How visitors use it

The unit is designed for unsupervised public use: controls are recessed or shielded, moving parts are enclosed, and the interface is operable by a child of about six with no instruction. Where a screen is used, the language can be switched without changing the hardware, and the content can be replaced on site.

03 / The science behind it

Punch welding process welding, also known as fusion welding, is a manufacturing process and technology that uses heating, high temperature, or high pressure to join metals or other thermoplastic materials such as plastics. According to the state of the metal and the characteristics of the welding process, welding methods can be divided into three categories: fusion welding, pressure welding, and brazing. 1. Fusion welding: Heat the workpiece to be joined and locally melt it to form a molten pool. After the molten pool cools and solidifies, it is joined. If necessary, a filler material can be added to assist. Divided into: laser welding, gas welding, arc welding, gas welding, plasma arc welding, electric slag welding, electron beam welding. 2. Pressure welding: The welding process must apply pressure to the workpiece, which is divided into resistance welding and ultrasonic welding. 3. Brazing: Using a metal material with a lower melting point than the base material as the brazing material, wetting the base material with liquid brazing material, filling gaps, and diffusing with the base material to achieve a bonded joint. Divided into: flame brazing, resistance brazing, and induction brazing.

04 / Built for a public floor

Every unit leaves the factory after a running test: mechanisms cycled, electronics burned in, edges dressed, fixings torqued and marked. Wear parts — bearings, sliders, lamps, belts, touch panels — are modular and listed on the spare-part sheet, so a venue technician can replace them without returning the exhibit. Crating is plywood with foam blocking; the loading plan and packing list travel with the shipment.
