The emergence of Sanger sequencing has provided a technological pathway for humans to decipher the code of life. By replicating DNA and adding special "stop" nucleotides during the replication process, the fluorescence signal released by DNA can be read to determine the sequence of DNA. This process is like intentionally placing the wrong puzzle pieces in certain places when copying a puzzle, and then determining the pattern of the entire puzzle based on these incorrect puzzle pieces.
The unit is designed for unsupervised public use: controls are recessed or shielded, moving parts are enclosed, and the interface is operable by a child of about six with no instruction. Where a screen is used, the language can be switched without changing the hardware, and the content can be replaced on site.
Sanger sequencing, also known as double deoxy chain termination, is a technique used to determine nucleotide sequences in DNA or RNA molecules. This method generates a series of DNA fragments with different lengths by synthesizing complementary DNA strands and using specific terminators to terminate the reaction. These fragments are then separated by gel electrophoresis and detected by radioactive or fluorescent labeling.
Every unit leaves the factory after a running test: mechanisms cycled, electronics burned in, edges dressed, fixings torqued and marked. Wear parts — bearings, sliders, lamps, belts, touch panels — are modular and listed on the spare-part sheet, so a venue technician can replace them without returning the exhibit. Crating is plywood with foam blocking; the loading plan and packing list travel with the shipment.
