01 / Overview

Vaccines refer to preventive biological products used for human immunization, which can be used to prevent and control the occurrence and spread of diseases. The principle is to artificially reduce, inactivate or genetically engineer pathogenic microorganisms and their metabolites into active immune preparations, which can reduce or eliminate their pathogenicity to the human body while retaining immunogenicity. After vaccination, the human body can generate specific antibodies and develop immune memory against the pathogenic microorganism; When exposed to the pathogenic microorganism again, the human immune system can quickly activate and produce a large number of antibodies to resist its invasion, ultimately achieving the goal of protecting human health.

02 / How visitors use it

The unit is designed for unsupervised public use: controls are recessed or shielded, moving parts are enclosed, and the interface is operable by a child of about six with no instruction. Where a screen is used, the language can be switched without changing the hardware, and the content can be replaced on site.

03 / The science behind it

When the human body is vaccinated, it will cause an immune response, producing memory T cells and memory B cells; When the human body comes into contact with the same antigen again, these two types of cells rapidly proliferate and differentiate to produce effector T cells and effector B cells (plasma cells), which quickly clear the antigen. Plasma cells produce antibodies, which bind to the antigen; The effector T cells come into close contact with the target cells, causing them to lyse and die, thus achieving the effect of clearing the virus. The greatest function of vaccines is to enable the body to develop disease resistance without causing illness.

04 / Built for a public floor

Every unit leaves the factory after a running test: mechanisms cycled, electronics burned in, edges dressed, fixings torqued and marked. Wear parts — bearings, sliders, lamps, belts, touch panels — are modular and listed on the spare-part sheet, so a venue technician can replace them without returning the exhibit. Crating is plywood with foam blocking; the loading plan and packing list travel with the shipment.
