01 / Overview

Neutrinos are currently known as the smallest fundamental particles that make up the material world. Neutrinos have extremely low mass, no charge, and almost no interaction with matter, possessing strong penetrating power. They are produced in large quantities during nuclear reactions, supernova explosions, and the operation of nuclear reactors inside stars, but they are extremely difficult to capture due to their weak interactions. The Jiangmen Neutrino Laboratory is a "reception room" for scientists to showcase their intelligence and "receive" neutrinos.

02 / How visitors use it

The unit is designed for unsupervised public use: controls are recessed or shielded, moving parts are enclosed, and the interface is operable by a child of about six with no instruction. Where a screen is used, the language can be switched without changing the hardware, and the content can be replaced on site.

03 / The science behind it

Neutrinos, also known as neutrinos, are a type of lepton and one of the most fundamental particles that make up nature. Neutrinos are small in size, uncharged, and can freely pass through the Earth. They have a spin of 1/2 and a very light mass (some less than one millionth of an electron). They move at close to the speed of light and have very weak interactions with other matter, earning them the title of "invisible humans" in the universe. It took the scientific community over 20 years to predict its existence and discover it. On November 23, 2013, scientists captured high-energy neutrinos for the first time. They used particle detectors buried under the Antarctic ice to capture high-energy neutrinos originating from outside the solar system for the first time. In May 2022, the second large-scale neutrino experiment project hosted by China, the Jiangmen Neutrino Experiment, is currently under construction. The Jiangmen Neutrino Experiment is a large scientific facility with the primary scientific objective of measuring the mass order of neutrinos.

04 / Built for a public floor

Every unit leaves the factory after a running test: mechanisms cycled, electronics burned in, edges dressed, fixings torqued and marked. Wear parts — bearings, sliders, lamps, belts, touch panels — are modular and listed on the spare-part sheet, so a venue technician can replace them without returning the exhibit. Crating is plywood with foam blocking; the loading plan and packing list travel with the shipment.

Attach a theme outline, a floor plan, or nothing at all — a photo of the space is enough to start. Quotations are issued against a real exhibit list, not per-square-metre guesses.
