A standard catalogue model: the dimensions, control package and finish are fixed, which is what keeps the price and the lead time predictable. Size, colour and interface language can be adapted without a new design cycle.

Why does the Chinese space station adopt a "T" configuration? The Chinese space station adopts a "T" configuration, in which the Tianhe core module is a vertical column, and the Wentian and Mengtian experimental modules are symmetrically distributed to form a crossbeam. The design of the "T" configuration optimizes the structural layout, improves operational efficiency and safety, and enables the core cabin to maintain three-way docking capability. Docking the Tianzhou cargo spacecraft backwards, and docking the Shenzhou manned spacecraft forwards and on both sides, to ensure safe and efficient transportation of materials and astronaut space travel.
The unit is designed for unsupervised public use: controls are recessed or shielded, moving parts are enclosed, and the interface is operable by a child of about six with no instruction. Where a screen is used, the language can be switched without changing the hardware, and the content can be replaced on site.
The space station is an artificial facility located in Earth orbit, used to support space research, scientific experiments, international cooperation, and long-term space life. It provides an airtight living area where astronauts can reside, work, and conduct research, while also providing living facilities and experimental equipment. The development goal of Tiangong Space Station is to establish a sustainable and complete space station system, achieving long-term manned and scientific research missions. At 9:32 am Beijing time on November 3, 2022, the Mengtian experimental module of the space station successfully completed its repositioning. The completion of the transposition of the Mengtian experimental module marks the completion of the in orbit assembly of the "T" basic configuration of the Chinese space station, taking a crucial step towards the goal of building a space station. According to the plan, basic functional testing and evaluation of the space station assembly will be carried out in the future. The different configurations of the Chinese Tiangong Space Station reflect its flexibility in design and implementation.
Every unit leaves the factory after a running test: mechanisms cycled, electronics burned in, edges dressed, fixings torqued and marked. Wear parts — bearings, sliders, lamps, belts, touch panels — are modular and listed on the spare-part sheet, so a venue technician can replace them without returning the exhibit. Crating is plywood with foam blocking; the loading plan and packing list travel with the shipment.
