A standard catalogue model: the dimensions, control package and finish are fixed, which is what keeps the price and the lead time predictable. Size, colour and interface language can be adapted without a new design cycle.

01 / Overview

Black holes are one of the most mysterious celestial bodies in the universe. They are not holes, but massive celestial bodies gathered in extremely small spaces. The gravity of a black hole is extremely strong, so strong that even light cannot escape. Let's take a look, what kind of cosmic ripples would be stirred up if two such powerful celestial bodies were to pull each other around?

02 / How visitors use it

The unit is designed for unsupervised public use: controls are recessed or shielded, moving parts are enclosed, and the interface is operable by a child of about six with no instruction. Where a screen is used, the language can be switched without changing the hardware, and the content can be replaced on site.

03 / The science behind it

A black hole is a region formed by the gravitational collapse of a massive celestial body. When an object collapses to a certain extent, it forms a region without a gravitational escape velocity. This area is called the 'event horizon', and no matter can leave this area because even light cannot escape the huge gravitational field there. When two black holes approach each other, they merge, releasing massive amounts of energy and gravitational waves. This phenomenon can be observed through gravitational wave detectors, providing us with a new method for studying black holes.

04 / Built for a public floor

Every unit leaves the factory after a running test: mechanisms cycled, electronics burned in, edges dressed, fixings torqued and marked. Wear parts — bearings, sliders, lamps, belts, touch panels — are modular and listed on the spare-part sheet, so a venue technician can replace them without returning the exhibit. Crating is plywood with foam blocking; the loading plan and packing list travel with the shipment.
