01 / Overview

The exhibit mainly consists of a Shenzhou-17 return capsule model, a 23.6 inch display screen, three lounge chairs (including two electric platforms), and two buttons. visitors enters the exhibit experience area and directly observes its internal structural characteristics through the Shenzhou-17 return capsule model; Watch the video footage of the landing process of the Shenzhou spacecraft through the porthole (display screen). Viewers can also lie on the vibrating seats on both sides, press the "start" button, and simulate the impact and gravity changes that astronauts may encounter during their return process.

02 / How visitors use it

The unit is designed for unsupervised public use: controls are recessed or shielded, moving parts are enclosed, and the interface is operable by a child of about six with no instruction. Where a screen is used, the language can be switched without changing the hardware, and the content can be replaced on site.

03 / The science behind it

The Shenzhou spacecraft is the core spacecraft of China's manned spaceflight mission, adopting a three module design: the orbital module is the working and living space for astronauts during their in orbit period; Propulsion module provides power and energy; The return capsule, as the most critical part of the entire mission, is a sealed cabin used by astronauts to travel between heaven and earth. It has a special heat-resistant shell to resist the high temperature during re-entry into the atmosphere, and achieves safe landing through parachutes and thrust reversers. It is the "ship of life" that escorts astronauts back home safely.

04 / Built for a public floor

Every unit leaves the factory after a running test: mechanisms cycled, electronics burned in, edges dressed, fixings torqued and marked. Wear parts — bearings, sliders, lamps, belts, touch panels — are modular and listed on the spare-part sheet, so a venue technician can replace them without returning the exhibit. Crating is plywood with foam blocking; the loading plan and packing list travel with the shipment.
