01 / Overview

The late astronomer Carl Sagan emphasized that 'we live in the shooting range of the universe', surrounded by potential dangers. Sooner or later, an asteroid will collide with Earth. Even if we avoid these dangers, there are still greater dangers that can occur. Fortunately, humans are developing various tools and methods to resist natural adversity, so that we do not become one of the life forms destined for extinction. Space migration has gradually become a realistic way for humans to explore the unknown and seek new living spaces. The challenges faced by space migration include a complex and challenging process, involving various technical difficulties such as propulsion system and spacecraft design, survival conditions, and radiation protection. At the same time, the acquisition and management of resources, the establishment of self-sufficient ecosystems, and coping with long-term weightlessness and psychological pressure are also factors that cannot be ignored. Despite facing many difficulties, with the advancement of technology and global cooperation, the dream of space migration will gradually come true.

02 / How visitors use it

The unit is designed for unsupervised public use: controls are recessed or shielded, moving parts are enclosed, and the interface is operable by a child of about six with no instruction. Where a screen is used, the language can be switched without changing the hardware, and the content can be replaced on site.

03 / The science behind it

In the shooting range of the universe, it is surrounded by potential dangers. It is only a matter of time before an asteroid collides with Earth. Even if we avoid all these dangers, there is a greater danger: the sun is heading towards death. Where is the future of humanity? Fortunately, we are currently developing various tools and methods to resist the adversity of nature, so that we do not become one of the 99.9% of life forms destined for extinction. Where do immigrants go? British scientists have proposed that there are currently 47 habitable planets discovered by humans, and the problem facing NASA's space migration is that the structure of Earthlings is currently not suitable for extraterrestrial life; The distance is too far, and the current technological conditions cannot quickly send humans into outer space. If we follow the current speed of the space shuttle, it would take about 150000 years to reach a planet about 4 light-years away from Earth. Taking Kepler-22 as an example, it takes 220 for humans to reach there.

04 / Built for a public floor

Every unit leaves the factory after a running test: mechanisms cycled, electronics burned in, edges dressed, fixings torqued and marked. Wear parts — bearings, sliders, lamps, belts, touch panels — are modular and listed on the spare-part sheet, so a venue technician can replace them without returning the exhibit. Crating is plywood with foam blocking; the loading plan and packing list travel with the shipment.
