01 / Overview

Through the wonderful effect of the mirror exhibit group, the principle of light reflection is demonstrated. The exhibit consists of abyssal mirrors, parabolic mirror arrays, back mirrors, Hasselblad mirrors, and infinite reflectors. The exhibit is a mirror space, with a Hasselblad mirror, a back mirror, and a parabolic mirror array on the exterior facade, and an abyss mirror and an infinite mirror extension on the interior space. When visitors enter the interior space, the mirrors on the left and right sides create a wonderful effect of infinite space, and they can also see their own multiple reflections. The abyssal mirror under their feet presents a deep and bottomless effect, suitable for taking photos as a souvenir. Hasselblad mirrors, back mirrors, and parabolic mirror arrays are installed on the outer side of the space, suitable for visitors to experience the reflection effects of different mirror surfaces one by one. Target audience: Adolescents aged 6-15 years old. Interactive display device operation instructions (audience experience) 1 Standing in front of the mirror to observe the imaging effect; 2. There are many mirrors arranged on the concave surface, please find the position where you can see many faces. 3. Enter.

02 / How visitors use it

Interaction type: Interactive installation. The unit is designed for unsupervised public use: controls are recessed or shielded, moving parts are enclosed, and the interface is operable by a child of about six with no instruction. Where a screen is used, the language can be switched without changing the hardware, and the content can be replaced on site.

03 / The science behind it

1. Infinite space makes mirrors face each other, and light will reflect multiple times between mirrors, reflecting countless portraits. A laser emitter uses an internal polygon mirror to amplify light. Light is reflected multiple times between mirrors placed parallel to each other, forming a series of inward extending mirrors. Due to the fact that specular reflection is always weaker than incident light, this reflection is not infinite. The more times it is reflected, the darker and more blurry the mirror image becomes. According to the perspective principle of far small near large, the mirror image will appear smaller and the distance between the images will appear farther, forming a corridor of images that makes people feel infinitely profound. 2. All mirrors in a parabolic mirror array face a single point, and the area where many faces can be illuminated is equivalent to the focal point of a concave mirror. Folding solar stoves also have a similar structure. 3. Backside mirror reflection refers to the phenomenon where the reflective surface is relatively smooth.

04 / Built for a public floor

Every unit leaves the factory after a running test: mechanisms cycled, electronics burned in, edges dressed, fixings torqued and marked. Wear parts — bearings, sliders, lamps, belts, touch panels — are modular and listed on the spare-part sheet, so a venue technician can replace them without returning the exhibit. Crating is plywood with foam blocking; the loading plan and packing list travel with the shipment.
