A standard catalogue model: the dimensions, control package and finish are fixed, which is what keeps the price and the lead time predictable. Size, colour and interface language can be adapted without a new design cycle.

01 / Overview

By adjusting the frequency of the sound and observing the vibration of the ring, we can understand the scientific principle of resonance. The exhibit consists of metal rings of different sizes and sound emitting devices. Press the start button to adjust the frequency of the sound, and you can see that the rings of different radii start to vibrate in sequence. This is because the natural vibration frequency of each ring is different. When the vibration frequency of sound is the same as the natural vibration frequency of a certain ring, the ring will resonate and shake violently. The vibration of other rings that are close at hand is not so obvious. Resonance refers to the situation where a physical system vibrates with a larger amplitude than other frequencies at a specific frequency, which is called the resonance frequency. When designing large buildings and bridges, special attention should be paid to avoiding the occurrence of resonance phenomena. Target audience: Adolescents aged 6-15. Display format: Electromechanical interactive device operation instructions (audience experience) 1 Participants press.

02 / How visitors use it

Interaction type: Interactive installation. The unit is designed for unsupervised public use: controls are recessed or shielded, moving parts are enclosed, and the interface is operable by a child of about six with no instruction. Where a screen is used, the language can be switched without changing the hardware, and the content can be replaced on site.

03 / The science behind it

Resonance is a high-frequency professional term in physics, referring to the situation where a physical system vibrates with a larger amplitude at a specific frequency and wavelength than at other frequencies and wavelengths; These specific frequencies and wavelengths are called resonance frequencies and resonance wavelengths. At resonance frequency and resonance wavelength, small periodic vibrations can generate large vibrations because the system stores kinetic energy. When the resistance is small, the resonance frequency and resonance wavelength are approximately equal to the system's natural frequency and natural wavelength (also known as natural frequency and natural wavelength), the latter being the frequency and wavelength during free oscillation. Reference materials.

04 / Built for a public floor

Every unit leaves the factory after a running test: mechanisms cycled, electronics burned in, edges dressed, fixings torqued and marked. Wear parts — bearings, sliders, lamps, belts, touch panels — are modular and listed on the spare-part sheet, so a venue technician can replace them without returning the exhibit. Crating is plywood with foam blocking; the loading plan and packing list travel with the shipment.
