A standard catalogue model: the dimensions, control package and finish are fixed, which is what keeps the price and the lead time predictable. Size, colour and interface language can be adapted without a new design cycle.

01 / Overview

Understand the principle of hyperbolic paraboloid through interactive devices. The exhibit consists of two sets of vertically installed cables and chairs mounted on a rotating platform. When rotating the chair, the angle of the cable will change, forming a hyperbolic surface. As visitors sits on the swivel chair and rotates, they can observe the formation process of a curved surface composed entirely of straight lines. Many famous buildings have used hyperbolic structures, such as cooling towers and small waist TV towers. Target audience: Adolescents aged 6-15 years old. Interactive display device operation instructions (audience experience) 1 Visitors enter the interactive space and sit on the seats in the exhibit center; 2. Rotate the turntable and allow visitors to observe the formation process of a curved surface entirely composed of straight lines. A description of the intrinsic connections between storylines and exhibits, based on fundamental mathematical knowledge and the hyperbolic paraboloid principle.

02 / How visitors use it

Interaction type: Interactive installation. The unit is designed for unsupervised public use: controls are recessed or shielded, moving parts are enclosed, and the interface is operable by a child of about six with no instruction. Where a screen is used, the language can be switched without changing the hardware, and the content can be replaced on site.

03 / The science behind it

Hyperbolic surface refers to the surface generated by the rotation of a hyperbola around its axis of symmetry. Hyperboloid is a type of quadratic surface, divided into single leaf hyperboloid, double leaf hyperboloid, and rotating hyperboloid. In reality, the cooling tower structure of many power plants is hyperbolic. In reality, the cooling tower structure of many power plants is a single blade hyperbolic shape. Due to the fact that a single leaf hyperbolic surface is a double ruled surface, it can be constructed using straight steel beams. In this way, it will reduce the resistance of the wind. At the same time, it can also maintain the integrity of the structure with minimal materials. Reference materials.

04 / Built for a public floor

Every unit leaves the factory after a running test: mechanisms cycled, electronics burned in, edges dressed, fixings torqued and marked. Wear parts — bearings, sliders, lamps, belts, touch panels — are modular and listed on the spare-part sheet, so a venue technician can replace them without returning the exhibit. Crating is plywood with foam blocking; the loading plan and packing list travel with the shipment.

Attach a theme outline, a floor plan, or nothing at all — a photo of the space is enough to start. Quotations are issued against a real exhibit list, not per-square-metre guesses.
