A standard catalogue model: the dimensions, control package and finish are fixed, which is what keeps the price and the lead time predictable. Size, colour and interface language can be adapted without a new design cycle.

01 / Overview

There is a certain relationship between the intelligence level of the human brain and the number of neurons. There are about 16 billion neurons in the human cerebral cortex, far more than the number of neurons in other known species on Earth. At the same time, the proportion of neurons in the human cerebral cortex to the total number of neurons in the brain is also very high, which is a significant difference between the brains of humans and other species.

02 / How visitors use it

The unit is designed for unsupervised public use: controls are recessed or shielded, moving parts are enclosed, and the interface is operable by a child of about six with no instruction. Where a screen is used, the language can be switched without changing the hardware, and the content can be replaced on site.

03 / The science behind it

The human brain has a total of 86 billion neurons, of which 16 billion are located in the cerebral cortex, responsible for our most complex intelligence and talents, such as self-awareness, language, problem-solving, and abstract thinking. The human brain is much smaller than the brains of elephants and whales. However, there are many more neurons in the human cerebral cortex than in the cortex of any other animal. At the same time, the proportion of neurons in the human cerebral cortex to the total number of neurons in the brain is also very high, which may be the physiological reason why human intelligence is higher than that of other species.

04 / Built for a public floor

Every unit leaves the factory after a running test: mechanisms cycled, electronics burned in, edges dressed, fixings torqued and marked. Wear parts — bearings, sliders, lamps, belts, touch panels — are modular and listed on the spare-part sheet, so a venue technician can replace them without returning the exhibit. Crating is plywood with foam blocking; the loading plan and packing list travel with the shipment.
