01 / Overview

A barcode is a graphical identifier that arranges multiple black bars and spaces of varying widths according to a certain coding rule to express a set of numerical or alphabetical symbol information. Barcode recognition is the process of restoring the information represented by a barcode compiled according to certain rules.

02 / How visitors use it

The unit is designed for unsupervised public use: controls are recessed or shielded, moving parts are enclosed, and the interface is operable by a child of about six with no instruction. Where a screen is used, the language can be switched without changing the hardware, and the content can be replaced on site.

03 / The science behind it

EAN-13 barcode: a barcode for goods developed by the International Article Numbering Association, widely used worldwide. Divided into four parts: prefix code, manufacturer identification code, product item code, and verification code; The EAN13 standard code has a total of 13 digits, consisting of 3 digits for the "country code", 4 digits for the "manufacturer code", 5 digits for the "product code", and 1 digit for the "correction code". Barcode: A barcode, also known as a one-dimensional barcode, is a graphical identifier used to express a set of information by arranging multiple black, white, and blank spaces of varying widths according to a certain encoding rule. Black has a low reflectivity of light, while white has a high reflectivity of light. The width of the space between black and white and white is different, which can produce different reflection and reception effects on the scanned light. It can be converted into different light pulses on the photoelectric conversion device, forming electronic information that can be transmitted. Barcode recognition principle: The barcode scanner uses optical principles to scan the inside of the barcode.

04 / Built for a public floor

Every unit leaves the factory after a running test: mechanisms cycled, electronics burned in, edges dressed, fixings torqued and marked. Wear parts — bearings, sliders, lamps, belts, touch panels — are modular and listed on the spare-part sheet, so a venue technician can replace them without returning the exhibit. Crating is plywood with foam blocking; the loading plan and packing list travel with the shipment.
