01 / Overview

The generation of laser requires a pump source to provide energy to particles, and the core lies in achieving particle number inversion during energy level transitions, which depends on a specific working medium. The resonant cavity plays a role in "storing" and "purifying" photons in the laser emission system, giving the laser excellent directionality.

02 / How visitors use it

The unit is designed for unsupervised public use: controls are recessed or shielded, moving parts are enclosed, and the interface is operable by a child of about six with no instruction. Where a screen is used, the language can be switched without changing the hardware, and the content can be replaced on site.

03 / The science behind it

Atoms are stimulated radiation of light, hence the name 'laser'. The principle of laser generation is mainly that electrons in atoms absorb energy, transition from low energy levels to high energy levels, and then fall back from high energy levels to low energy levels, releasing energy in the form of photons. The photon beam (laser) induced (excited) has highly consistent optical properties among the photons. Therefore, compared to ordinary light sources, lasers have better monochromaticity, directionality, and higher brightness. The generation of laser requires a pump source to provide energy to particles, and the core of laser emission is particle number inversion and energy level transition. Therefore, a working medium is required, and finally a resonant cavity is needed to "store" and "purify" the laser, and make the laser have good directionality.

04 / Built for a public floor

Every unit leaves the factory after a running test: mechanisms cycled, electronics burned in, edges dressed, fixings torqued and marked. Wear parts — bearings, sliders, lamps, belts, touch panels — are modular and listed on the spare-part sheet, so a venue technician can replace them without returning the exhibit. Crating is plywood with foam blocking; the loading plan and packing list travel with the shipment.
