01 / Overview

The exhibit consists of a three color flash device, a long afterglow interactive wall, ultraviolet lamps, sound system, and atomic models. The exhibit triggers audience actions through voice prompts, allowing them to stand at designated positions and trigger flashing lights through sensors, leaving shadows on the interactive wall; The system will prompt visitors to observe shadows through voice prompts, allowing them to compare and understand which color of light has the longest shadow retention time and the best effect. Among them, the shadow effect retained by ultraviolet light irradiation is the best and lasts the longest, followed by blue, green, and red light, conveying the relevant knowledge to visitors that the shorter the wavelength, the higher the energy.

02 / How visitors use it

The unit is designed for unsupervised public use: controls are recessed or shielded, moving parts are enclosed, and the interface is operable by a child of about six with no instruction. Where a screen is used, the language can be switched without changing the hardware, and the content can be replaced on site.

03 / The science behind it

Phosphorescence is a type of photoluminescence related to fluorescence. When exposed to shorter wavelengths of light (radiation), phosphorescent substances emit light, absorb light, and re emit light at longer wavelengths. Unlike fluorescence, phosphorescent materials do not immediately re emit the radiation they absorb. On the contrary, phosphorescent materials absorb some radiation energy and re emit energy for a longer period of time after the radiation source is removed. The excited electrons return to lower energy orbitals, and a portion of the absorbed energy is released in the form of visible or infrared light; Therefore, you can see them shining brightly. Ultraviolet radiation is the most effective way to excite phosphorescent materials, so more significant changes in brightness can be observed.

04 / Built for a public floor

Every unit leaves the factory after a running test: mechanisms cycled, electronics burned in, edges dressed, fixings torqued and marked. Wear parts — bearings, sliders, lamps, belts, touch panels — are modular and listed on the spare-part sheet, so a venue technician can replace them without returning the exhibit. Crating is plywood with foam blocking; the loading plan and packing list travel with the shipment.
