The Multiple Faces of Quantum

The exhibits consist of a monochrome transparent plate swinging device, a graphic light box, an electronic cloud disk interactive device, an LCD display screen, and a polarizing film observation device. The exhibits are divided into two parts: LCD display screen and monochrome transparent plate swinging device. visitors comes to the electronic cloud disk interactive device located on the left side of the exhibit, and selects different quantum numbers N (main quantum number), L (angular quantum number), and M (magnetic quantum number) by rotating the three-layer circular disk to observe the 3D density cloud at a certain position under different states. Through interactive operation, visitors can understand that in quantum mechanics, the shape of electron clouds is mainly determined by the angular quantum number l. visitors comes to the polarizing film observation device located on the right side of the exhibit. During the continuous oscillation of the monochromatic transparent plate, visitors can observe different optical phenomena through different combinations of polarizing films in the polarizing lens observation device. Each observation of a polarizer combination is equivalent to a measurement of the polarization superposition state (horizontal or vertical) of light.

The unit is designed for unsupervised public use: controls are recessed or shielded, moving parts are enclosed, and the interface is operable by a child of about six with no instruction. Where a screen is used, the language can be switched without changing the hardware, and the content can be replaced on site.
