A standard catalogue model: the dimensions, control package and finish are fixed, which is what keeps the price and the lead time predictable. Size, colour and interface language can be adapted without a new design cycle.

When a charged body approaches a conductor, the charges inside the conductor will redistribute. Due to mutual attraction or repulsion between charges, the free charges in the conductor will tend to or move away from the charged body, causing the end of the conductor near the charged body to carry a different charge and the end away from the charged body to carry the same charge. This phenomenon is called electrostatic induction. In 1882, British scientist Wimhus created this disc-shaped electrostatic induction motor, in which two coaxial glass disks can rotate at high speed in reverse, with high efficiency in frictional charging and the ability to generate high voltage. This type of starter motor has been used to this day and is frequently used in physics classes at various high schools for electrical demonstration experiments. Operating instructions: Rotate the handwheel to observe the rotation and electrification of the Wimhus starter motor turntable; Continuously shake and shake until the voltage between the two balls reaches the air breakdown threshold, triggering the discharge phenomenon.
The unit is designed for unsupervised public use: controls are recessed or shielded, moving parts are enclosed, and the interface is operable by a child of about six with no instruction. Where a screen is used, the language can be switched without changing the hardware, and the content can be replaced on site.
Every unit leaves the factory after a running test: mechanisms cycled, electronics burned in, edges dressed, fixings torqued and marked. Wear parts — bearings, sliders, lamps, belts, touch panels — are modular and listed on the spare-part sheet, so a venue technician can replace them without returning the exhibit. Crating is plywood with foam blocking; the loading plan and packing list travel with the shipment.
