01 / Overview

This exhibit aims to showcase one of the three "pearls" of the shipbuilding industry - China's first large cruise ship, the "Aida Magic City", with its advanced technology and innovative design, reflecting the strong industrial strength of China's shipbuilding industry. Through the display of cruise ship models and interactive multimedia demonstrations, visitors can understand the structure and functions of this' maritime mobile city ', showcasing China's industrial capabilities in the field of large-scale shipbuilding. The exhibit consists of a model of the Aida Modu cruise ship, a display screen, and a touch screen. Visitors can observe the model of the Modu cruise ship and watch the introduction video of the Aida Modu cruise ship played in a loop on the display screen. The 3D model of the cruise ship will also be replicated on the touch screen. Visitors can zoom in and out of the model on the screen, and there are multiple interactive scene points distributed on the model. After clicking on the interactive point, the two screens will be linked to play important technical explanations of the Modu cruise ship or immerse themselves in the joyful cruise life.

02 / How visitors use it

The unit is designed for unsupervised public use: controls are recessed or shielded, moving parts are enclosed, and the interface is operable by a child of about six with no instruction. Where a screen is used, the language can be switched without changing the hardware, and the content can be replaced on site.

03 / The science behind it

The Aida Modu is China's first domestically produced large cruise ship, built by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding. It was delivered in November 2023 and made its maiden voyage on January 1, 2024. It has a total length of about 323.6 meters, a total tonnage of about 135500, 2125 guest rooms, and can carry 5246 passengers. As a "mobile city on the sea", it integrates accommodation, catering, entertainment, rescue, and communication systems on a ship, reflecting the comprehensive engineering capabilities of large cruise ships in terms of structure, power, electricity, fire and safety management.

04 / Built for a public floor

Every unit leaves the factory after a running test: mechanisms cycled, electronics burned in, edges dressed, fixings torqued and marked. Wear parts — bearings, sliders, lamps, belts, touch panels — are modular and listed on the spare-part sheet, so a venue technician can replace them without returning the exhibit. Crating is plywood with foam blocking; the loading plan and packing list travel with the shipment.
